Stunning 9ct Gold Antique Edwardian Lavalier Pendant with Peridot and Seed Pearl
Such a unique and beautiful piece, the craftsmanship seen in this is truly remarkable
Many believe that lavalieres got their name from the mistress of Louis XIV; Duchesse de La Valliere.
They became popular in the 1800s, and their popularity grew, particularly in the Edwardian era.
So much so, a popular French actress took the stage name Ève Lavallière, as she was often seen on stage wearing one.
The pendant is in great antique condition, with minimal signs of wear for its age.
All peridot stones and pearls are both present and secure within their setting.
There is no visible damage to any of the stones or pearls.
Some parts of this piece are more of a rosy tone as opposed to a true yellow gold; this includes the main base of the piece, the bail and the ring connecting the bottom pendant.
On the back of the piece, it is stamped 9ct.
There are no full hallmarks on this piece, so the exact maker and date cannot be determined.
There were many articles of gold which were exempt from hallmarking before 1975
Due to the fine and detailed nature of this piece, this may be the reason it was exempt
The pendant measures as follows:
Length (including bail) approx. 57.5mm
Length (excluding the bail) approx. 52.5mm
Width approx. 22mm
Thickness approx. 5.5mm
This beautiful pendant comes packaged in an eco-friendly box made from FSC-certified recycled materials. Please note the vintage box is for display purposes only.
